I've been working on building my own jumping standards. I'm at the point where I'm looking to buy some PVC pipes for the rails. I was wondering if there are any recommendations as to what schedule (thickness? I think... 40, 80 etc...) I should get. If anyone can help me out, that'd be great!
The 3" diameter PVC pipes (that you can get at hardware stores) are the right size, but may not be thick enough. PVC can become brittle with age, sun, and cold; when brittle PVC breaks, it shatters (not good for horses!)
You can get PVC poles specifically designed for horse jumps from several different manufacturers of PVC jumps. You can also get wooden poles from lumber yards, which might end up being cheaper--no shipping charges if you pick them up yourself.
