I am about to start college and I was thinking about taking a few wquine classes while I was there. They have two equestrian teams (one western and one english). I would want to join the english one but I don't exactly know what it entails. The instructor entitled it "hunt seat" but I don't know exactly what that is. Any information would be helpful.
Thanks

There are several different styles of English riding. The dressage based style typically bases the rider in a secure, centered seat. The huntseat syle is more forward, almost like riding in 2-point (jumping position) all of the time.
This is greatly simplified, of course, and there is much subtlety in both. That's simply the primary difference. Huntseat is used for "hunter" style riding: equitation, under saddle, over fences, etc. |

| Thanks so much for the speedy reply galadriel! So basicly what I'd be doing on the equestrian team is jumping? Also, what is "equitation", and "under saddle"? |
